How We Heal
Treatments offered at Sweetgrass Acupuncture are listed below:
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); it has been shown to be effective in the treatment of many various health problems, and has been used as a form of therapy for over 2000 years. Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine, thin needles in specific places in the body called acupuncture points. These points are located on acupuncture meridians, channels that flow from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet and carry Qi, a vital essential substance, which both nourishes and supports the body.
Acupuncture FOR FACIAL REJUVENATION
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a non-surgical beauty technique that can help to improve circulation and muscle tone, diminish or reduce fine lines or wrinkles, and increase skin collagen production to improve firmness and elasticity. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is not an instant facelift, and should be performed over a complete course of treatment for optimal results.
Moxa
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy; it is a non needle technique that has been traditionally used in TCM for tonification purposes, to increase blood circulation, and to dispel cold or stagnation issues. Moxibustion involves the burning of the herb Mugwort, Artemesia Vulgaris, over specific points on the body. When burned, Mugwort has a deeply penetrating heat, and it has a long history in folk medicine of being used for various purposes - from pain relief, to assist digestion, expelling parasites, to facilitating meditation and lucid dreaming.
CUPPING
Cupping is the placement of either glass or plastic cups in which a vacuum has been created, on specific areas of the body to ease muscle tension, increase circulation, and reduce myofascial adhesions, along with other health benefits. Cupping is similar to an inverse massage, instead of using pressure on the body to improve circulation and release muscle tension, it uses a gentle suction to provide similar results.
TUI NA MASSAGE
Tui Na massage is Chinese medical massage. It involves using different massage and acupressure techniques to release trigger points, reduce muscle tension, increase circulation, and stimulate acupuncture points for various health benefits. Tui Na massage can be therapeutic for the body and calm the mind, and is a wonderful way to relax, rejuvenate, and heal.
